Fish Hooked: Mardy Fish ties the knot

Following his successful Davis Cup showing in Madrid, Mardy Fish headed stateside last week for another important event - his wedding. The 27-year-old marriedMardy Fish his fiancée, Deal or No Deal model Stacey Gardner, 28, in a Jewish ceremony on Sunday at the Four Seasons Hotel in her native Los Angeles.

The nuptials were witnessed by 150 guests, which included groomsmen James and Thomas Blake, NBA star Kevin Garnett and his wife, and Gardner’s six bridesmaids.

In keeping with the black-tie theme, the groom wore a traditional black tuxedo and white tie while the bride wore a mermaid style strapless white gown.

The couple became engaged on November 13, 2007, when Gardner had become a regular fixture on the Tour while not filming episodes of Deal. She was also on hand for Fish’s unexpected run at the U.S. Open this summer, where he gave her credit for his resurgence.

“I mean, I think that, you know, happiness off the court translates to, you know, clear-mindedness,” said Fish. “Is that even a word? It's a -- things -- we've done a lot of things to keep my mind off the tennis court. We just enjoy each other's company a ton and she's a huge help, as well.”

The 30-minute ceremony concluded to U2’s “Beautiful” as husband and wife walked the white aisle, which was sprinkled with red rose petals.

Davis Cup pals Andy Roddick and Bob and Mike Bryan were unable to attend due to previous engagements. Roddick was playing (and winning) a tournament in Beijing while the Bryans were hosting their first annual charity event nearby at the Sherwood Country Club.

Fish, meanwhile, has elected to forgo the Asian leg of the Tour to focus his attention on the wedding.

“So I'm going to, obviously, you know, take some time off, away from tennis for sure, which will be nice. So that's why I played so much this summer,” he said.

He will return to competition at the ATP Masters Series Madrid on October 13.
