Final Analysis: Now in its seventh generation, the Adidas Barricade 7.0 is a go-to shoe for players who move aggressively around the court. It’s compatible with Adidas’ miCoach training system, which uses a microchip (sold separately) to track your progress as it leads you through a number of tennis-specific fitness drills. What’s more, both men’s and women’s shoes are more than an ounce lighter than their predecessors, adding a slightly quicker feel to the shoe’s durability and lateral stability. While some weartesters thought the Barricade’s ventilation was somewhat lacking, many felt that, in the words of one weartester, the shoe “felt great right out of the box.” Players who change directions so rapidly that they slide on hard courts appreciated the shoe’s rounded edges and AdiTuff, extra synthetic material built onto the outsole and upper of the men’s shoe for added stability. Final note: Some male weartesters observed that the Barricade ran a bit narrow.
