Facts: New for 2012, the Team Speed lives up to its name as an agile, feather-light frame. The racquet is built with a BioSensor handle system designed to filter out vibration; Volkl says the system offers a 15 percent increase in vibration dampening. The 102-square inch head offers a sizable sweet spot. This is one of Volkl's lowest-priced performance racquets for 2012.
Impressions: This light, maneuverable racquet should work best for young players with all-court aspirations. Its 25-mm beam width and carbon-and-fiberglass construction makes it a good transition frame. Despite its sub 10-oz. weight, the racquet doesn't offer a jarring response, and while it’s not designed for power players, you can whip it through the strike zone with ease. The black-and-neon-green color scheme gives the racquet a flashy, aggressive appearance that should prove appealing to younger players. The Team Speed offers elements of Volkl’s distinctive feel at a lower price, and serves as an entry stick into Volkl's line of performance racquets.
