Facts: Yonex’s unique isometric head shape is built to broaden the sweet spot, according to the brand, by increasing the number of main and cross strings that meet in the middle of the head. Micro Core technology, a higher density foaming urethane injected into the top and side of the frame, is built to provide greater vibration absorption and power. Control, stability, and efficient power transfer are enhanced by deeper grooves in the brand’s 3-D Vector shaft, which provides “20 percent more face stability than a conventional racquet,” according to Yonex.

Impressions: In the right hands, this is an all-purpose stick effective from all areas of the court. Maneuverability is evident in the head-light feel, which is noticeable at net and when stretched wide for running replies. The open string pattern makes spin easily accessible, and the expanded sweet spot can help players impart more sting on their strokes. This is a comfortable and responsive racquet capable of delivering the entire spectrum of shots. It should be a hit with VCore aficionados and make a positive impression on new Yonex players.
