The Pitch
The Babolat Aeropro Lite, like the Aeropro Drive and Team, features an updated Cortex system, which the company claims improves comfort and feel by filtering out negative, jarring feedback. The Lite also includes a new handle construction designed to enhance feel. And, true to Aeropros of years past, the Lite’s beam is shaped aerodynamically to optimize players’ racquet-head speed.

How It Tested
With a strung weight just under 10 ounces, the Aeropro Lite is the band’s featherweight: powerful, agile and stable at a beginner-intermediate level. Playtesters found the racquet to be, as one 3.0 player put it, “easy to handle and maneuver” around the court, and several commented on the stick’s ample spin potential on serves and groundstrokes. According to one 3.5 player, “This racquet gave me all the spin I could—and couldn’t—handle. It’s especially rewarding when you find the sweet spot.” All in all, the Lite is a gateway racquet—one best suited to players of slight build, beginners just starting to learn how to play, or 11- to 13-year old juniors ready to graduate to their first full-length racquet. It’s forgiving enough to make the game enjoyable but not so forgiving that it stifles the development of longer, faster swings.

Bottom Line
A solid option for ambitious, developing players.
