The Völkl 7, both in the 310 gram and 295g models, has been updated with Organix, a high-tech cellulose material that the company says dampens vibrations and increases stability. The 7s also feature Bio Sensor, a weighted pin placed in the handle that also dampens vibrations, enhancing the racquet’s feel and comfort.
How It Tested
The Organix 7s are not racquets for specialized playing styles; rather, they’re versatile, middle-of-the-road tweeners that are capable of hitting a wide variety of shotsall over the court. Testing the heavier (310 gram) version, intermediate playtesters with medium-length swings reported sufficient spin and pop on their groundstrokes, additional leverage on serves (owing to the stick’s extra length) and good stability at net. While some Western-hitting baseliners found the 7’s power somewhat lacking, doubles players with more conservative grips thought that the stick enabled all-court play. Most of all, though, playtesters praised the 7’s comfort. Said one 4.0, “I like the muted feel of this racquet.” If the 7 (310g) is a tad heavy for you, test out the 295g model. Half an ounce lighter and measuring standard length, it’s more maneuverable and easier to swing.
Smooth sticks for well-rounded, intermediate players who value comfort and versatility.
