New for 2013, the Gel-Solution Slam features the high-abrasion rubber outsole installed in Asics’ Gel-Resolution 5. The combination of the outsole and Asics’ forefoot Gel cushioning system is designed to provide traction and shock absorption. Weartesters agree the best features are its light weight and stability. The worst features are the Solution Slam’s cushioning—weartesters said the shoe would benefit from denser cushioning—and the length of the laces, which some said were excessive. Overall, this was one of the top scoring shoes with women weartesters. “It’s a comfortable fit and a great buy,” one woman said of the sleek and ultra-light shoe that incorporates several of Asics’ popular technologies at a lower price. The Gel-Solution Slam doesn’t offer the rear foot cushioning system found in the fully loaded Gel-Resolution 5, nor does it come with the six-month outsole warranty of Asics’ flagship shoe. But it also won’t lighten your wallet substantially.
