Product Profile: Adidas by Stella McCartney Barricade Shoe - Wimbledon Edition

by: Jon Levey June 24, 2013

Last month Adidas rolled out a special edition Stella McCartney designed Barricade shoe for the French Open. It came in a stylish color—electricity yellow—and had mixed results for the brand ambassadors: Caroline Wozniacki couldn’t passed the second round, while Maria Kirilenko made it to the quarters. Now it’s Wimbledon’s turn. Since a sun-drenched colored shoe is forbidden on the green lawns, these Barricades get a nearly pristine white makeover. For those players who like a more understated shoe, or also need to adhere to color restrictions, these Barricades will be more to their liking.

They’re available at adidas.com and tennis specialty retailers for $125. They come equipped with the stability and support features players have come to expect from the Barricade line. For a closer look, watch Wozniacki and Kirilenko model the shoes, and their Stella outfits, in the video below. Absent, however, is brand ambassador, and local favorite, Laura Robson, who will also be wearing the shoe at Wimbledon. Still no respect for the Brits at their home Slam.
