The Propulse 4’s new Michelin OCS2 high-abrasion outsole is based on rally-racing tires built by brand partner Michelin—the image of the Michelin Man appears on the heel and toe—and is more durable than prior versions. The new lateral stability system, designed as “the true core of the shoe,” provides support and stability. Babolat installed Side 2 Side technology beneath the forefoot to aid balance on recovery steps. Footbelt technology locks the foot in the shoe to enhance stability and help minimize the risk of rolling an ankle. The Propulse 4’s name comes from its aim to assist forefoot propulsion. Weartesters agreed the arch support and gripping outsole are the shoe’s best assets. The one quibble weartesters had was the weight: At 15.2 oz., this is one of the heaviest shoes we tested in 2013.
