Philadelphia Freedoms d. BOSTON LOBSTERS 23-21

The Philadelphia Freedoms won their fifth straight match in dramatic fashion, as Frank Dancevic and Marcelo Melo saved seven match points before clinching the win with a 5-4 victory in men’s doubles. While the Boston Lobsters failed to close out their last home match with a win, John Isner brought plenty excitement to the capacity crowd, serving four Mylan Aces. The Freedoms went 4-0 in tiebreakers. With the win, the Freedoms stay one match behind the Washington Kastles in the battle for the top seed in the Eastern Conference.

 

SAN DIEGO AVIATORS d. Springfield Lasers 21-15

The Bryan Brothers first match with the San Diego Aviators was a success, as they helped fight off the Springfield Lasers 21-15. The Aviators came from behind in the first four sets, before taking their first lead of the match at 16-15 going into men’s doubles. From there, Bob and Mike Bryan took over against Ross Hutchins and Michael Russell, winning 5-0. The Aviators win was enough to clinch them a playoff spot and the top seed for the Western Conference. Their opponent is yet to be determined.

 

Austin Aces d. TEXAS WILD 22-16

The Austin Aces were able to keep their Western Conference playoffs alive by defeating the Texas Wild 22-16. The Aces move themselves a game out of the second spot in the Western Conference, while the Wild fall a half game behind.

Andy Roddick revisits Philadelphia for the second year in a row, as the Austin Aces play the Philadelphia Freedoms. The Freedoms will attempt to stay undefeated at home, coming in with confidence after their big win over the Boston Lobsters.

 

Boston Lobsters @ Washington Kastles 7:00 PM EDT

After a three match road trip, the Washington Kastles welcome the Boston Lobsters in an Eastern Conference matchup. During the Kastles road trip, they went a surprising 1-2, and suffered their worst loss in franchise history, losing to the Springfield Lasers 24-10. Martina Hingis has been key to the Kastles success, as Washington is 5-1 when she’s been in the lineup this season.

 

TOMORROW (July 22)
Live Stream of the Day – Texas Wild @ San Diego Aviators 10:00 PM EDT

After clinching the top seed in the Western Conference, the San Diego Aviators will host the Texas Wild in a Western Conference matchup. This will be the Bryan Brothers first time playing against their former team, the Wild, since playing for them last season. The most interesting matchup will be the Bryan Brothers facing individual men’s doubles leader Alex Bogomolov Jr. and his teammate, Aisam Qureshi. Expect entertaining sets in doubles action between these two teams.

 

Springfield Lasers @ Washington Kastles 7:00 PM EDT

The Washington Kastles will close out their last regular season home match against the Springfield Lasers on Tuesday. The Kastles will have Sloane Stephens, who is making her debut for Washington this season, and Martina Hingis. Hingis and Stephens will help favor the Kastles in this matchup, which could help push them towards home advantage for Thursday’s Eastern Conference Championship. Expect the possibility of Stephens and Hingis teaming up in women’s doubles.

 

Boston Lobsters @ Philadelphia Freedoms 7:00 PM EDT

After their epic clash against each other Sunday, the Boston Lobsters and Philadelphia Freedoms will conclude their 2014 rivalry at the Pavilion. The Freedoms lead the Lobsters 2-0 this season, while the Lobsters are still looking for their first Eastern Conference win. The Freedoms will likely have to win this match to keep pace for the top seed in the Eastern Conference.
