Photos from Wimbledon: Day 10
Each day during Wimbledon, we'll bring you exclusive photography from Anita Aguilar, who is covering the tournament for TENNIS.com. Steve Tignor provides the captions.
The coin has been tossed...
...and a new rivalry has begun?
Genie Bouchard really does hit the cover off the ball. You can see the bits of fuzz flying around her here.
Simona Halep on the move; unfortunately for her, she rolled her ankle early and said she was unsure about her movement afterward.
Halep also said her “serve was really bad," because she couldn’t push off, but she gets up for this one.
Bouchard is good at ignoring distractions; here she stays in her zone as Halep gets her ankle taped.
Bouchard said she wasn’t ready to return serve on her first match point, but her protestations went nowhere with chair umpire Kader Nouni.
It wasn’t Will and Kate, but the women’s semifinals did attract Eddie Redmayne (right) and Dame Maggie Smith (left, leaning)
...and a well-disguised Colin Firth.
Rafael Nadal isn’t here, but Lucie Safarova seems to be channeling his lefty takeback...
Safarova showed off her athleticism on Thursday, but came up a couple of points short in a first-set tiebreaker with Petra Kvitova.
Kvitova has found her best tennis on her favorite courts over the last two weeks.
One more win and she has her second Wimbledon title.
Another day was done at the All England Club. All that was left to watch was the tarp being pulled over the courts.
