Unseeded Jo-Wilfried Tsonga shocked the tennis world in 2008 when, competing in just his second Australian Open, he went on a miracle run and defeated Rafael Nadal in the semifinals. Playing in his first Grand Slam final, he took the first set off Novak Djokovic before the Serb stormed back to win the next three and the title. Tsonga won his first Masters title later that year, in Paris, defeating David Nalbandian in three sets. By the end of the year the Frenchman was in the Top 10. Tsonga made history by becoming the first man to beat each of the Big Four—Djokovic, Andy Murray, Roger Federer and Nadal—at Grand Slams. Tsonga hits aggressive ground strokes and is dangerous from both his forehand and backhand sides. His forehand is his best shot, and he can beat you at the net. In 2011, Tsonga added a one-handed backhand to his arsenal.
