Biography

While this young Spaniard made his ATP World Tour debut in 2011 in Barcelona, he underwent surgery in 2012 due to a herniated disc in his back and ended up not playing for seven months. He bounced back, however, and in 2013 was voted ATP Most Improved Player of The Year after he climbed 650 positions in the rankings from the previous year. In 2014, Carreno competed in all four Grand Slams for the first time. He fell in the first round at the Australian Open, Roland Garros, and Wimbledon, but reached the third round at the US Open after beating A. Beck and Paire.
