World TeamTennis Previews: July 25
Live Stream of the Day
Boston Lobsters at Philadelphia Freedoms, 7:00 p.m. EDT (WATCH LIVE HERE)
This is the second time in three days these two teams will battle in a contest with playoff implications. The Freedoms will have Mark Philippoussis, a two-time Davis Cup champion for Australia, competing on their side of the net. If Boston loses they will be eliminated from playoff contention; a New York win over Washington could also eliminate Boston.
Other Matches
Washington Kastles at New York Sportimes, 7:00 p.m. EDT
Washington heads to New York unbeaten and having already clinched the top spot in the Eastern Conference for the Finals Weekend presented by GEICO. The Sportimes’ Martina Hingis and John McEnroe will try to clinch a spot in the Finals Weekend presented by GEICO with a victory. Nobody has defeated Washington since July 22, 2010.
Sacramento Capitals at Orange County Breakers, 10:00 p.m. EDT
This is the second consecutive day these two teams will face each other in an all-California battle. Orange County’s Lindsay Davenport, one of the leading female doubles players in WTT, must play well if the Breakers hope to win and advance to the playoffs. Whoever wins this match will take over sole possession of first place in the Western Conference.
Kansas City Explorers at Springfield Lasers, 8:05 p.m EDT
The two Missouri teams battle for the second straight night. Springfield’s Amir Weintraub, ranked third in men’s singles winning percentage, has been stellar all year. But ultimately this will down to the women on both squads, as both teams fight for playoff contention. With only two games separating all four teams in the West, every match will be critical from here on out.
