Sorana Cirstea has defeated Francesca Schiavone 7-5, 6-3 in the first round of Eastbourne, Schiavone's first match since her French Open victory less than two weeks ago.

But the Italian was undampened about her prospects for Wimbledon, telling Reuters, "For Schiavo, nothing is impossible for sure but I don't know what will happen.

"I'm curious what will happen and look forward to playing at Wimbledon.

"I love this sport so all the emotion and motivation come from inside and I show that on the court."
