Safina parts ways with coach Gaston Etlis
Dinara Safina is no longer working with coach Gaston Etlis. "[F]ollowing the Australian Open, my coach and I mutually decided to part ways," Safina wrote on her official website. "I will keep you posted when I decide on a new coach."
Safina and Eltis began working together at the French Open, shortly after Safina abruptly parted ways with Zelkjo Krajan, who had taken her to No. 1. Returning this season after being plagued with back problems last year, Safina has lost three straight matches and fell 6-0, 6-0 to Kim Clijsters at the Australian Open. "I need to find answers," she said afterwards.
