BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (AP)—Juan Monaco and Juan Martin del Potro both won easy three-set matches to give Argentina a commanding 2-0 lead in its Davis Cup quarterfinal against Kazakhstan.
No.43 Juan Monaco defeated Andrey Golubev, ranked two places below him, 6-3, 6-0, 6-4, while No.19 Del Potro brushed past Mikhail Kukushkin 6-2, 6-1, 6-2 on Thursday.
Doubles are set for Friday, with reverse singles on Saturday.
Play started a day earlier than usual because of elections on Sunday in Buenos Aires.
