After beating 19-year-old Jack Sock 6-4, 6-2 in the quarterfinals of the Sacramento Challenger, James Blake says Sock "would've beaten the pants off me at 19 years old." Since his ranking fall to No. 173 in March, the 31-year-old Blake has climbed back up to No. 75. He says that his chronically sore right knee feels better than it has in two years. "That's been the biggest difference as opposed to the last couple summers when I didn't feel like I could push off the same," Blake told the Sacramento Bee.

Sam Querrey, who just returned to the tour after elbow surgery, will face Ivo Karlovic in the other semifinal. Now ranked No. 120, Querrey is playing Challengers in order to get his ranking up high enough to get straight into the 2012 Australian Open. The 24-year-old reached a career high No. 17 earlier this year.
