Gajdosova had root canal before shutout loss

Australian Jarmila Gajdosova reveals that one of the reasons for her 6-0, 6-0 defeat at the hands of Marion Bartoli in Hopman Cup was because she had a root canal done the day prior. "What I learnt is that there are bad days in the office, and that you shouldn’t go to dentist day before," she told reporters. "Obviously I had a few medications in me, but that doesn’t take the fact that Marion was playing unbelievable and she would have beat me either way."

In other Aussie injury news, former No. 1 Lleyton Hewitt said that he’s fit and that his sore big toe is "hanging in there. It’s going alright."
