Oudin recalls roots in building comeback
Melanie Oudin, who had fallen out of the top 300 earlier in late March after losing in the first round of her first five tournaments, has qualified and reached the quarterfinals of Birmingham. The 20-year-old says that she has a better grip on her career after she struggled under the spotlight after reaching the 2009 U.S. Open quarterfinals. Oudin is 20-7 since early April. By reaching the Birmingham quarters, Oudin will at least crack the top 175 again. "I feel a lot more mature now, just with handling all of the media stuff, all the crowds and people telling me stuff and expecting me to win all the time. I’ve remembered why I play tennis in the first place," she told the Birmingham Post.
