After her team fell 4-0 to the two-time defending the Czech Republic, new Australian Fed Cup captain Alicia Molik calls Petra Kvitova “by far the best Fed Cup player out there.”

Kvitova, fought off a match point to beat Samantha Stosur 2-6, 7-6 (3), 6-4 to clinch the tie. The former Wimbledon champion has won 13 of her last 14 Fed Cup matches.

“When the chips are down she really plays to win,” Molik told FedCup.com. “She won the match. I didn't feel Sam lost it.”

Kvitova, who has been struggling this season, said: “It was my first really good match, I think, this year.”
