Redfoo loses in the first round of the U.S. Open National Playoffs Northern California sectional qualifying tournament at Chamisal Tennis Club in Salinas, Calif. Redfoo, who entered under his given name Stefan Gordy, lost his singles match, 6-1, 6-2, to Scott Gray, 19, of Turlock, Calif., who plays for Fresno City College.

“I say it’s a success for me because the journey was so great, and I actually felt good out there,” the 37-year-old Redfoo told The Californian. “The guy kicked my butt in the score, and he played great.”

Redfoo, who is the boyfriend of Australian Open champion Victoria Azarenka, will play mixed doubles with 17-year-old Ayaka Okuno of Japan, whom he coaches.
