Muguruza undergoes foot surgery, out for season

Spanish teenager Garbine Muguruza has had an operation on her right foot and will be out the rest of the season.

Diario Sport reports that Muguruza has been playing with an injury since February and had planned on having the operation at this time. If the 59th ranked Muguruza is out for six months she will have the option of using an injury protected ranking to enter tournaments when she returns.
