Former world No. 9 Andrea Petkovic says she is pleased with her comeback season. After suffering back and ankle injuries, Petkovic ended 2012 ranked No. 143 and then missed the first two months of 2013 with a knee injury. She reached two finals this season and is currently ranked No. 43.
"If someone had told me before the season that I would end the year in the Top 50, I would have signed on immediately,” the 26-year-old German told reporters at a charity event in Frankfurt. "I'm fit and I’m having so much fun in training. I have rarely been so relaxed in my life. I have found my balance. I want to get the best out of me."
