PARIS (AP)—Belinda Bencic secured an upset 7-5, 6-4 win against Alize Cornet to draw Switzerland level with France at 1-1 in their first round Fed Cup World Group II match Saturday.

Ranked 139th, Bencic profited from Cornet's error-strewn performance.

Cornet led 5-2 in the first set. A recent semifinalist on the same indoor court at the Open GDF Suez, the 25th-ranked Cornet had nine double faults, 35 unforced errors and lost her serve four times.

Earlier, veteran Virginie Razzano needed little more than an hour to beat Stefanie Vogele 6-2, 6-1 and put France 1-0 up.

In Sunday's reverse singles, Cornet plays the 47th-ranked Vogele and the 87th-ranked Razzano takes on Bencic.

In the doubles, Caroline Garcia teams up with Kristina Mladenovic for France against Timea Bacsinszky and Viktorija Golubic.
