Who wins the WTA Finals doubles championship, losing but one game in the final, and then (potentially) retires?

Cara Black does.

In Singapore, Black and partner Sania Mirza took a 6-1, 6-0 contest against Shuai Peng and Hu-Wei Hsieh, who had been 12-0 in finals. Oddly enough, Mirza and Hsieh will pair up in 2015, as Black remains noncommittal. (Also noteworthy, and unfortunate, is that Mirza has ruled out ever returning to professional singles play.)

That's to be respected about Black, all but bowing out, devoid of fanfare that others like Li Na see, even as she reaches yet another peak in her career. It is noble that she told Mirza she may not play a full 2015 season, possibly may not play at all, and offers that she's "just struggling with [her] body a little bit."

Here's the Spin's favorite Cara Black moment, when she went into full-blown beast mode doing a volley drill:

Quite sure she only stopped because she was fatigued after 44 seconds of constant volleying.

Cara Black, we salute you.
