Tomas Berdych says he will not be pursuing Ivan Lendl to work with him following the eight-time Grand Slam champion's decision not to coach him.

Berdych, 29, had approached Lendl about a coaching relationship as he pursues a Grand Slam title. Lendl stopped working with Andy Murray this year, saying he did not want to commit the amount of weeks the Scot required. Berdych met Lendl following Shanghai to discuss working together, but Lendl said he was "too busy," Berdych reported at the time.

Berdych, arguably the Czech Republic's best player since former No. 1 Lendl, was told that the two were the only Czechs to play the season-ending championship five times, but said their careers had no comparision.

"Yeah, I would say it's more likely that some of the small occasions, like we are five times a year probably, but he probably five times won it, so it's a bit different story," said Berdych with a smile.

The former Wimbledon finalist is also not expecting Lendl to change his position on coaching. "But, no, I think working with him, that's over for now definitely," he said. "I mean, I don't know what has to be the change to change his mind. But it's how it is. I just respect his decisions. There is no reason to still be, you know, looking back. But you always have to look forward and keep moving."

Berdych won just two games against Stanislas Wawrinka in his opening match at the ATP World Tour Finals.
