DOHA, Qatar (AP) Third-seeded Tomas Berdych of Czech Republic beat Andreas Seppi 6-2, 6-3 Friday to set up a Qatar Open final against fourth-seeded David Ferrer of Spain.

Berdych hasn't dropped his serve in four matches this week, winning all 34 service games played.

''It's four very good matches which I'm happy with,'' Berdych said. ''Some of them were in the tough (sandstorm) conditions. Some of them were quite nice and pleasant, but, you know, now is the final. That's the last one and the most important one to go.''

He saved three break points against Seppi to hold his nine service games in the semifinals.

Ferrer defeated seventh-seeded Ivo Karlovic of Croatia 6-7 (2), 7-6 (5), 7-6 (4) in a match that featured no service breaks earlier Friday.

''It was a very mental match,'' said Ferrer, who now leads Karlovic 4-1 in career meetings. ''I think in the first set he was better than me. In the second and the third it was very close.''

Ferrer trailed 3-2 in the third-set tiebreaker, but Karlovic lost the next two points on his own serve to give the Spaniard control.

Karlovic saved the first match point for Ferrer with a second serve ace, his 30th of the match and 97th of the tournament. Karlovic now has 9,092 career aces. He joined Goran Ivanisevic (10,183) and Andy Roddick (9,074) this week as the only three players in history to serve over 9,000 aces.

''Ivo, he is serving unbelievable this week, first and second serves,'' Ferrer said. ''He surprised me with the second serve because he was serving 199 kph with the second serve, and it was not easy to return him.''

Ferrer is looking to win his 22nd career singles title, while Berdych is seeking his 11th.
