Madison Keys says she is ready for the increased attention and pressure that will come following her semifinal run at the Australian Open.

The 19-year-old had her best Grand Slam showing in Melbourne, defeating Petra Kvitova and Venus Williams to reach the semifinals before falling to Serena Williams, 7-6 (5), 6-2.

Keys will now be ranked in the Top 20, and knows she will now be a bigger target for opponents. "It's one of those things where eventually in your career, it kind of switches from being the young up-and-comer to someone who has had results and the other person is trying to raise their level to play. I think it's a privilege. I'm just going to do my best to try to stay here," she said.

Keys was also pleased with her performance against Serena Williams, challenging the world No. 1 despite an adductor problem.

"I mean, her ball's not like anyone else's," said Keys. "It comes hard, it comes deep. You never have the feeling of I can control every ball that comes towards me. She's definitely one of the very few that can hit like that."

The unseeded American hit 27 winners and won the majority of long rallies. "I thought there was definitely a lot of points where I was controlling the point," she said, "staying in longer rallies, and things like that. That's definitely something I'm happy about. That's something that I'm going to keep working on."
