The French secured victory against the Italians in Fed Cup with Kristina Mladenovic and Caroline Garcia defeating the world's top doubles team, Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci to win the tie.
Italian captain Corrado Barazzutti wasn't sure what happened. "The doubles was a very strange result," he told FedCup.com. "They are No. 1 in the world and we expected a little more. But the pressure in this match was big and maybe they felt it pressure more.
"The French were very aggressive and maybe though they had nothing to lose. But we didn’t play very well.”
The French captain Amelie Mauresmo said that Mladenovic and Garcia were on fire. "They took control of everything," Mauresmosaid. "They were returning like a joke. They were in the zone."
