Jelena Jankovic is surprised that she has reached the Indian Wells final. Prior to beating Sabine Lisicki in the semifinals, the world No. 21 was most recently in a Premier 5 final back in 2011 at Cincinnati. The former No. 1 won Indian Wells in 2010.

"I wouldn't pick myself, actually," Jankovic said. "I was like limping three days before the tournament started.  I was actually in doubt if I can even play, if I'm going to be able to run and move. It was amazing. When I came to these courts, the first day—I did not hit a ball for 10 days."

Jankovic will play Simona Halep in the final, with the Serbian leading 3-1 against the Romanian.

She said that reaching the final with so little practice is "weird."

"Like sometimes you prepare, you work so hard and train all day, and then you play so bad," the 30-year-old said. "Then there are times like this where you're just—I came unprepared.  I was coming off from an injury, but I felt so great, like just so happy to be out there."
