In fine Serena Williams fashion, the best female tennis player in the world revealed her April *Vogue* cover appearance via Instagram:

Because who doesn't sit by the pool in full makeup, right? There's personal precedent for Serena's iconic cover: She also appeared, with a little help from her "friends" Ryan Lochte and Hope Solo, on Vogue's Olympics-inspired cover in June 2012.

It turns out that the 19-time Grand Slam singles champ, forced to withdraw from her BNP Paribas Open semifinal due to a nagging knee injury—also announced on Instagram—is not the lone tennis player featured in this issue. Her pal Caroline Wozniacki, who recently became editor Anna Wintour's pet project, released an image of herself, shot by Annie Leibovitz, that also appears in Vogue's latest pages:

Which reminds us: Besides shooting Serena for the new cover, Leibovitz also snapped Vogue's controversial cover image exactly a year ago, when Kim Kardashian and Kanye West landed there. The celebrity photographer hasn't tweeted since showing off this photo on March 21, 2014.

Numbers about how Serena sells on newsstands nationwide are not available, but it figures that tennis superfan Wintour takes the "Not broken? Don't fix it" approach.
