ESTORIL, Portugal (AP) -- Robin Haase of the Netherlands beat Ricardas Berankis of Lithuania 6-3, 6-7 (6), 6-4 Monday in the first round of the Estoril Open.

Haase will next face top-seeded Feliciano Lopez of Spain, who has a bye into the second round at the clay-court tournament.

Unseeded Borna Coric of Croatia created the first upset of the event by beating sixth-seeded Jeremy Chardy of France 6-2, 6-4.

Also, Gilles Muller of Luxembourg overcame 20-year-old wild-card entry Federico Ferre Silva of Portugal 6-3, 3-6, 6-1, and Filip Krajinovic of Serbia beat Alejandro Gonzalez of Colombia 6-3, 6-3. Krajinovic will face either Nick Kyrgios of Australia or Albert Ramos-Vinolas of Spain.
