STUTTGART, Germany (AP) -- Home favorite Angelique Kerber rallied to upset Caroline Wozniacki 3-6, 6-1, 7-5 in the final of the Porsche Grand Prix for her second straight title on Sunday.
After losing the opening set, Kerber twice broke the fourth-seeded Dane in the second. Wozniacki saved three match points at 6-5 in the third set, but Kerber took her fourth chance to win in 2 hours, 4 minutes.
''In the end I needed all my reserves. I'm really, really proud to have managed it in front of my home crowd,'' Kerber said after claiming her first WTA title at home and her fifth overall. The 14th-ranked German also won at Charleston earlier this month.
The 27-year-old Kerber upset three-time defending champion Maria Sharapova in the second round, while Wozniacki defeated second-seeded Simona Halep in a semifinal lasting nearly three hours.
Wozniacki lost the 2011 final to another German, Julia Goerges. She claimed her 23rd title in Kuala Lumpur last month.
''It was small things today that made the difference,'' Wozniacki said. ''I had 5-3 in the third set and 30-all, and it could have gone both ways, but she took her chances and it went her way.''
