Martina Hingis has been named to Switzerland's Fed Cup team for the World Group playoffs, according to national reports.

The 34-year-old is expected to play doubles against Poland, April 18-19 in Zielona Gora, Poland. The former No. 1 in singles is No. 4 in the doubles rankings following back-to-back Premier Mandatory titles with her new partner Sania Mirza. It will be her first Fed Cup appearance since 1998, when she helped lead Switzerland to the final.

Playing Fed Cup will give Hingis an opportunity to compete in the Rio Olympics next year. There had been talk of her playing mixed doubles with Roger Federer before the Olympics in London in 2012, but Hingis was not ready to play.

The team's top singles player is Timea Bacsinszky, while teenager Belinda Bencic will not play the tie.
