Jack Sock, who reached his first ATP final by beating Kevin Anderson in Houston, said that he is playing better than ever. After returning at the ATP Masters 1000 at Indian Wells from hip surgery, Sock reached the fourth round before falling to Roger Federer, and then the third round at Miami. In doubles, he and Vasek Pospisil won Indian Wells, and reached the final in Miami, losing to Bob and Mike Bryan.

If he beats fellow American, Sam Querrey, to win Houston, Sock could crack the Top 40. While sidelined with an injury, the 22-year-old spent a lot of time doing physical training.

“This is the best physically by far off the court and on the court,” Sock. “I knew the physical would come with it and it showed over the past month and a half at Indian Wells and Miami where it’s about my game and improving at a good rate. The physical is a big part and I’m feeling better with my tennis.”
