Gilles Simon anticipates he will be ready for the French Open despite retiring with a stiff neck in Rome.

The Frenchman stopped at 2-0 in his second-round match with Dominic Thiem, saying he started experiencing pain in the first game of the second set. "It was like it got stuck," he said.

Simon has had the injury previously, though not for a couple of years. "It's a signal," he said. "But I know the way, it'll be a hard four days."

Simon is next scheduled to compete at next week's tournament in Nice, an ATP 250 event.
