The crowd was angry when Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray walked off center court midway through the fourth set of their French Open semifinal.
The decision was taken to suspend play, with Djokovic leading 2-1 in sets and the score tied at 3-3 in the fourth set, because of the threat of an imminent rainstorm.
This prompted loud jeers from the crowd, who were relishing the hard-fought match. But organizers were proved right as, just a few minutes later, the rain started lashing down in western Paris.
The match is set to resume at 1 p.m. local time on Saturday, and the good news for fans is that the forecast is for sunny weather in the afternoon.

The French Open semifinal between Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray has been suspended until Saturday because of the threat of a rain storm.
With Djokovic leading 2-1 in sets and the fourth set tied at 3-3, the players were told by officials that play would be halted. They walked off the court to jeers from the crowd, which wanted play to continue.
The match is set to resume at 1 p.m. local time on Saturday.

It looks like the crowd at Roland Garros has not forgiven Stan Wawrinka for his teasing of the French players at last year's Davis Cup final.
After being booed in his fourth-round win over local favorite Gilles Simon, Wawrinka received whistles and jeers during his semifinal against Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, another French player.
''I said things that maybe had gone too far,'' Wawrinka said, referring to his mockery of the French players after Switzerland beat France 3-1 in the final. ''But I didn't want to harm anybody. I wasn't nasty to anybody.''

Andy Murray has won the third set against Novak Djokovic 7-5 in their French Open semifinal.
Djokovic, who is seeking the only Grand Slam title he has never won, dropped his first set of the tournament.
The top-ranked Serb won the first two sets 6-3, 6-3, but as the sun started to fade and the temperature dropped, Murray came back into the match.
The winner faces Stanislas Wawrinka on Sunday.

Novak Djokovic is one set away from reaching the French Open final after winning the second set 6-3 against Andy Murray.
The top-ranked Serb broke the third-seeded Briton in the fifth game, and again in the ninth game to take the set after Murray sent a routine overhead long.
Djokovic, an eight-time Grand Slam champion, has won every major except the French. He has lost in two finals to nine-time champion Rafael Nadal.
Djokovic won the first set 6-3 and has yet to face a break point so far in the match.

Serena Williams says she ''just kind of collapsed'' after winning her French Open semifinal and has been resting at her Paris apartment ahead of Saturday's final.
Before facing Lucie Safarova with a chance for a third title at Roland Garros and 20th Grand Slam singles trophy overall, Williams didn't practice Friday, and she didn't do a pre-final news conference, either.
Instead, she issued a statement that was distributed by the tournament.
''I started to feel unwell around the third or fourth round,'' Williams' statement begins, ''and I felt really terrible during the semis'' on Thursday, when she came back to beat Timea Bacsinszky after dropping the first set.

The second French Open semifinal between Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray is under way on center court, as they play each other at Roland Garros for the first time.
Djokovic has won every major except the French Open and the top-ranked Serb is bidding to become the eighth man in history to win a career Grand Slam.
Murray, who is seeded third, has won two Grand Slams: at Wimbledon and the U.S. Open.
Neither player has lost on clay so far this season.
Djokovic leads Murray 18-8 in their career matches.

Stanislas Wawrinka is through to the French Open final after beating Jo-Wilfried Tsonga 6-3, 6-7 (1), 7-6 (3), 6-4.
After 3 hours, 46 minutes in hot conditions on Court Chatrier, Wawrinka clinched his first match point when Tsonga returned into the net.
Tsonga's dream of becoming the first Frenchman to win a Grand Slam since Yannick Noah in 1983 will have to wait until Wimbledon, which starts later this month.
Wawrinka, who beat Roger Federer in the quarterfinals, aims for his second Grand Slam title after winning the Australian Open last year.
He plays either eight-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic or two-time major winner Andy Murray.

Stan Wawrinka was one set away from the French Open final after edging a tight third set 7-6 (3) against home favorite Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.
Wawrinka won the first set 6-3 and Tsonga took the second 7-6 (1) in hot conditions on Court Chatrier.
The winner plays top-ranked Novak Djokovic or third-seeded Andy Murray. They are up next.

Lucie Safarova of the Czech Republic remains on course to become the first woman in 15 years to win the singles and doubles at the French Open.
Safarova teamed with Bethanie Mattek-Sands of the United States to beat Andrea Hlavackova and Lucie Hradecka of the Czech Republic, 6-2, 5-7, 6-4 to reach the doubles final.
Safarova plays top-ranked Serena Williams in the singles final on Saturday.
The last to do the double was Frenchwoman Mary Pierce in 2000, when she played alongside Martina Hingis.

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga won the second set 7-6 (1) against Stanislas Wawrinka to level the set score in their French Open semifinal.
The fans on Court Chatrier broke out into loud chants of ''Tsonga, Tsonga'' after the Frenchman broke back in the set and held to love to lead 5-4.
With his eyes closed, Tsonga appeared to be meditating at the changeover.
In high temperatures, Wawrinka won the first set 6-3.

For the first time at Roland Garros, there will be an all-American final in the French Open boys tournament.
Second-seeded Taylor Fritz reached the final Friday with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Corentin Denolly and will take on Tommy Paul for the title.
The 13th-seeded Paul defeated Michael Mmoh, another American player, 6-4, 6-3.
There were also two American players in the boys' final last year at Wimbledon.

The first French Open semifinal between Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Stanislas Wawrinka is underway in hot and sunny conditions on center court.
Both are looking to reach their second Grand Slam final, with Tsonga losing in the 2008 Australian Open final, and Wawrinka winning that tournament in 2014.
Tsonga hopes to give France its first men's champion at Roland Garros since Yannick Noah in 1983; Henri Leconte was the host country's last male finalist, in 1988.
They have met six times before, with three wins each.
Tsonga is seeded 14th, and Wawrinka is seeded eighth, and the winner plays top-ranked Novak Djokovic or third-seeded Andy Murray.
