Belinda Bencic says winning the Rogers Cup has changed her perception of her current level, and she will now look to become more consistent. In Toronto, the 18-year-old beat six Eugenie Bouchard, Caroline Wozniacki, Sabine Lisicki, Ana Ivanovic, Serena Williams and Simona Halep—all former Grand Slam finalists—en route to the title.

"It's very big boost for your confidence," Bencic said. "Now I actually feel like I belong here, and that I can be really one of the top players. It's an amazing feeling. I'm not going to expect of myself to do every tournament. I have to learn the consistency. We're not going to play every tournament perfect. So I really have to keep going."

Bencic is currently ranked No. 12, having won two titles in her last four events. On grass, she won Eastbourne, then fell to Victoria Azarenka in the fourth round of Wimbledon. On hard courts, she lost to Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in Washington before winning Toronto.

She is the youngest player in the Top 15 and is coached by her father Ivan, as well as Melanie Molitor and Martina Hingis on occasion.

"I just feel like I very improved myself. In the game, but also in how I understand the game and know the opponents well, and try to think on the court and what I need to do. And maybe my experience also," she said of her climb up the rankings. "I played a lot of matches and I could learn from tough losses also. And I think I've grown also as a player. I think my serve improved a little bit. Not this week, but before in the grass season it was quite good. And I feel like I still have potential to go better, and to serve better and just everything."
