It seems there's truly never a dull moment in the life and times of Serena Williams. Fresh off a shocking semifinal loss at the U.S. Open and her latest foray in New York Fashion Week, the WTA tour's far-and-away No. 1 announced via Twitter that she has landed a spot on the 2016 Pirelli calendar, an elusive and provocative page turner.

The notorious calendar has been created in some sun-kissed shoots, per *Forbes*, but Serena was shot this July in a New York studio setting ahead of its full release in November. Supermodels galore have graced its pages since 1964, though it remains to be seen who will join Serena among the 2016 ranks. The Pirelli calendar is simply known to many as The Cal, which seems sufficiently pretentious.

But for an indication of how seriously this art piece is taken, famed celebrity photog Annie Leibovitz shot this year's edition. Come to think of it, she hasn't shot Serena since, well, April's Vogue cover.
