Venus Williams, who pulled off her 700th win Tuesday in Wuhan, has said that she would love to get to 800. On Wednesday, she won her 701st career match.

The 35-year-old trails her sister, Serena, by 36 victories. Venus is also nearing the retired Conchita Martinez (739 wins), Lindsay Davenport (753), and Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario (759).
The top four on the list—Martina Navratilova (1,442 wins), Chris Evert (1,309), Steffi Graf (902), and Virginia Wade (838)—are a long way off.
“Who doesn't like winning?” Venus said in regard to getting to 800 wins. “You know, that never gets old. It's easy to say.”
Currently ranked No. 24, Venus beat Julia Goerges to earn win No. 700 and will take on British player Johanna Konta in the quarterfinals of the Wuhan Open.
“I was thinking, ‘How long would it take me to get to 800?’” Venus said of her landmark victory. “Maybe that was my first thought. But it's been a great 700 wins along the way.”
