Noah Rubin has won the USTA's wildcard playoff for the Australian Open.

The former Wimbledon junior champion secured entry when fellow young American Taylor Fritz fell in the final of the Champaign challenger. Rubin won the Charlottesville challenger to put himself in position for the wildcard.

It will be his second Grand Slam event in the men's draw, following the 2015 U.S. Open.

"I've never been to the Australian Open before, even for juniors," he told the ATP website. "I'm going to have to get acclimated to the temperature for sure, but I'm just excited about going there."

Rubin said he is not setting goals for the season, saying, "It's just about having the mindset of being open and ready for anything. I was ranked No. 1,000 going out of school and now I'm around No. 350."

Rubin turned pro following his freshman season at Wake Forest University.
