Roberta Vinci has revealed that she will likely retire after the 2016 season. The 32-year-old, who stunned Serena Williams in the semifinals of the U.S. Open, said she is thinking about ending her career.

“For me, next year is the last, probably I don’t change my mind but you never know," Vinci told reporters, following her semifinal loss to Venus Williams in Zhuhai. “I don’t want to play more and more and more. I had success, I had victories, but sometimes it is time to change and stop.”

The world No. 15 has played well since August, coming through qualifying in New Haven to beat Eugenie Bouchard before falling to Caroline Wozniacki in three sets. She then reached the U.S. Open final, losing to her close friend Flavia Pennetta. In recent weeks, she reached the semifinals in Wuhan and Zhuhai.

“Well, a good three months,” Vinci said. “Incredible month for me, incredible end of the season, and incredible ranking right now. But I'm happy that I finished. Now I can go take some days off, because I am tired right now. I played a lot, a lot of stress, a lot of pressure, of course. So now I'm happy that I'm finished and that I have a good ranking. Happy to be in the Top 20 and ready for the next year.”
