The world can wait—until it can't.

In truly Federer-esque fashion, the arguable GOAT and his Swiss compatriot Martina Hingis have announced that they will indeed play mixed doubles together at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Speculation ramped up in the past week after a report about the pairing went public.

Roger released the official news in "double the fun" style, sending two tweets consisting of a throwback photo and, separately, a series of emojis to tell the tale.

At press time, Hingis had yet to share the news via social media. The story was originally reported by Reem Abulleil of Sport360.

Hingis and Federer last played together in competition 15 years ago. Since then, Federer won Olympic gold in men's doubles alongside Stan Wawrinka at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, and in 2014 added a Davis Cup team title, again partnering with Wawrinka to take doubles points through the rounds.

Hingis herself is an even more accomplished doubles player than Federer. She comprises half of the WTA tour's 2015 Team of the Year, alongside Sania Mirza, and holds four career Grand Slam mixed doubles titles, notably seizing three of them in 2015. What's more, she owns 11 women's doubles titles, including 2015 Wimbledon and U.S. Open crowns captured with Mirza.

It's worth noting that the Rio Olympics, to Rafael Nadal's chagrin, will feature tennis competition played on hard courts. That favors Federer and Hingis (Hingerer? Rogtina?) in a major way.

Two words: Rio awaits.
