Caroline Wozniacki has begun working with David Kotyza, the former coach of Petra Kvitova.

According to Czech publication *DNES*, Piotr Wozniacki—Caroline’s father and coach—contacted the Czech coach and the pair are training together in Monte Carlo.

"I accepted the offer of Piotr," said Kotyza “…She wants to get back to the top. I want to help her."

Wozniacki, a former No. 1, has fallen to No. 25 in the rankings. She has three opening-round exits this season, including one at the Australian Open, and five of her seven defeats have come against players ranked below 50.

Reacting to the new partnership, Kvitova said on Twitter, "I am happy for him."

Kotyza had coached Kvitova since her teens, guiding her to two Grand Slam titles, but Wozniacki has not had lengthy relationships with external coaches on tour. Since reaching No. 1, she has worked with more than five coaches, including Thomas Johnasson, Thomas Hogstedt and most recently Arantxa Sanchez Vicario, who helped her for a few weeks during the clay season a year ago.

However, it will be a while before they work together at a tournament. Wozniacki injured her ankle during practice on Thursday, and has withdrawn from Denmark’s Fed Cup tie and Istanbul. She is next scheduled to play the WTA event in Madrid.
