The WTA has found that Caroline Garcia did not use racially-charged language during her first-round match in Charleston.

The French player was accused of using a racial description and targeting an expletive towards Irina-Camelia Begu, who won their meeting in three sets.

However, WTA CEO Steve Simon said in a statement that the tour conducted a "thorough investigation" and "found no evidence to support these allegations."

Begu, writing on social media before the WTA statement was made, said in Romanian, "Personally, I didn't hear anything and I have not seen a recording to establish it."

Garcia had not reacted publicly to the allegations prior to Wednesday, when she sent out a tweet.
