Having been criticized for keeping players on court in the rain, French Open organizers stopped the men's quarterfinal between Novak Djokovic and Tomas Berdych on Thursday because of wet conditions.

Berdych wanted to stay on court, and was unhappy about the decision.

The Czech, who fell in straight sets, said they had been playing in “light rain” for two-and-a-half sets when the match was stopped with no apparent change in conditions.

"You have to take a break, take all the stuff, go in, then go out again a few minutes later,” the 30-year-old said. “Really, that was one of the worst calls that I ever had on the court.”

He blamed it on the backed-up schedule and the controversy about playing conditions, which were putting officials under scrutiny.

"Probably, that's when they are pushed under pressure, that they are making decisions like that," he said. "They are relying on someone who is in a little room and saying that he's [a] meteorologist and he's predicting what's going to happen or not."

Berdych is No. 8 in the rankings.
