Martina Hingis and Sania Mirza lost in the Wimbledon doubles quarterfinals to Timea Babos and Yaroslava Shvedova, their second consecutive defeat at a major.

They previously had won three majors in a row, taking Wimbledon and the U.S. Open in 2015 and the Australian Open in 2016.

“We were probably not at our best,” Mirza told Wimbledon.com. "The matchup was not great on the surface … We tried to come back in the second set, and we almost did. They came out serving big. On grass, when you don't make those chances you have, it costs you. We tried to stay in it, but they were playing well. All credit to them.”

Mirza said that next year, she hopes to continue playing with the 35-year-old Hingis, but she just doesn't know what the future holds. This year, however, she will definitely stick with the Swiss.

“We don't plan too much in advance in our lives, because we don't know what we're doing next week,” Mirza said. “That's just the way our lives work. I hope to be back next year if I'm healthy and still playing.”

Babos and Shvedova won the match, 6-2, 6-4.
