Tomas Berdych, who is playing his first tournament with new coach Goran Ivanisevic, says he is excited to have the Croat courtside.

The two agreed to start working together a couple of weeks ago, with Ivanisevic joining Berdych at this week's event in Cincinnati.

The 2010 Wimbledon finalist is still chasing a Grand Slam title, and he wanted a coach who could help him get to the next level.

"I think that's the guy I was looking for," Berdych told reporters in Cincinnati.

The world No. 8 pointed to Ivanisevic's Grand Slam victory at age 29, in addition to his experience coaching Marin Cilic to a major title.

"It's exciting times for me," said Berdych. "I'm looking forward to having work done with him on the team."

The 30-year-old has had a lackluster season, but with Ivanisevic by his side he will work to add to his game and challenge the top players.

"These days, I think 30 is not an old age for tennis players," he said. "If you look around, I think it’s still a pretty good time. I feel like I still have a couple good years ahead. That’s why I’m just trying to look for all the possible help, and just try to improve myself as much as I can."
