Andy Murray has praised fellow British players Johanna Konta and Kyle Edmund for their climb into the upper ranks this season.

Konta went up 100 spots in the rankings during the second half of 2015, and has kept on rising. The 25-year-old began the season by reaching the semifinals of the Australian Open, and reached the Top 10 this week by advancing to the final in Beijing.

Murray noted her "huge improvements," particularly at the beginning of this season.

"Yeah, she's obviously had a great year," he said. “I mean, to be in the Top 10 in the world is very, very difficult at anything, I think. But she deserves to be there."

Edmund began the season ranked No. 102, and is currently up to No. 48.

"He's improving at a pretty solid pace,” said Murray, who beat the 21-year-old Edmund in Beijing last week. “…His ranking is moving in the right direction … If he keeps going on the path he's on just now, he'll be up at the top of the game very soon."

There are seven British players combined in the ATP and WTA Top 100.
